Where to Drink a Pumpkin Spice Latte in Metro Vancouver (2026 Guide)

The first real rain of the season has arrived, the maples along the side streets are turning copper, and cafe chalkboards across the city have quietly swapped iced drinks for three familiar letters: PSL.

Love it or pretend not to, the pumpkin spice latte has deep roots here. Starbucks first tested its pumpkin spice latte in Vancouver and Washington, D.C. back in 2003, which makes the drink something of a hometown story. Two decades later, some of the best versions in the city come from independent cafes making their own syrups from real pumpkin and whole spices.

This guide covers our favourite local spots, the reliable chain options across the Lower Mainland, and a few pumpkin drinks that break away from the latte entirely.

The Best Independent Cafes for Pumpkin Spice Lattes

    Kranky Cafe, Mount Pleasant

If you try only one local PSL this fall, start here. Kranky makes its own pumpkin spice syrup from real pumpkin, spices, and a light touch of sweetness, so the coffee still comes through. The cafe has also offered a homemade Caramel Pumpkin Spice Latte for anyone who wants something richer.

    Where: 228 E 4th Avenue, Vancouver

Le Marché St. George, Riley Park

Part corner grocer, part cafe, entirely charming. The pumpkin spice latte here is made with house-made syrup and finished with a dusting of spice, and if you stay in, it often arrives in a vintage cup. Claim a window seat and watch the leaves come down on St. George Street.

Where: 4393 St George Street, Vancouver

    The Garden Strathcona, Strathcona

The name on the menu is different, but the spirit is the same. The Garden’s Autumn Spice Latte is made with organic cane sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and cloves. It’s the pick for anyone who wants warmth and spice without a sugar rush.

Platform 7, Kitsilano and East Vancouver

Platform 7 has built a following for playful espresso drinks. Alongside its popular Cappuccino Brûlée, it rolls out a full range of pumpkin spice drinks each fall, making it a smart stop when everyone in your group wants something different.

    Prado Café, Multiple Locations

Dependable and easy to find across the city. Prado’s fall lineup has featured a classic Pumpkin Spice Latte along with two other seasonal drinks, the Autumn Fog and the Harvest Latte.

    Medina Café, Downtown

Best known for brunch and its Liège waffles, Medina also leans into the season. Its autumn menu has included pumpkin spice lattes and waffles topped with seasonal fruit and house-made syrups. Weekday mornings are your best bet for avoiding a wait.

    Grounds for Coffee, Kitsilano

Grounds is a cinnamon bun institution, and autumn is when it really shines. The fall menu has included Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Buns alongside hot and iced Pumpkin Spice Lattes and a Pumpkin Spice Frappe, typically arriving in the second week of October.

    Also Worth Watching

A few more local favourites usually join pumpkin season each year, including Saunter Coffee, 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, and Elysian Coffee. At 49th Parallel, save room for a snack: its cafes have served Pumpkin Cheesecake Bismarck doughnuts filled with pumpkin pie filling and topped with whipped cheesecake.

    Chain Options Across Metro Vancouver

If you’re in Surrey, Coquitlam, Richmond, Langley, or Maple Ridge and want a guaranteed pumpkin fix, the national chains are fully stocked for 2026.

    Starbucks

Starbucks brought back its Pumpkin Spice Latte on August 25, along with new pumpkin drinks, returning pecan flavours, banana bread-inspired beverages, and a new cider-style chai called the Chaider. New pumpkin additions this year include an Iced Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso and an Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha.

    Tim Hortons

The budget-friendly choice, with a location in almost every neighbourhood. The pumpkin spice lineup runs until November 1 and includes a hot latte, iced latte, Iced Capp, cold brew, and a pumpkin spice muffin.

    Pumpkin Drinks Beyond the Latte

Pumpkin Buttered Chai at Railtown Cafe. One of the most original fall drinks in the city. Railtown has combined its house-made spiced pumpkin syrup with masala chai, grass-fed butter, salt, and whole milk. Rich, cozy, and ideal for a grey November afternoon.

Pumpkin spice bubble tea. Local boba shops such as Bobacabana have served pumpkin spice bubble tea in past seasons, a fun choice if you’d rather skip the coffee.

Pumpkin spice latte ice cream at Earnest Ice Cream. Not technically a drink, but close enough. The flavour blends pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice with a touch of freeze-dried coffee, and it has only been sold at the Quebec Street shop.

Other fall lattes. Not a pumpkin person? Look for maple, apple, cinnamon, and cardamom lattes across the city. 49th Parallel’s Maple Sea Salt Latte and Storm City’s Caramel Apple Latte on West Broadway are two seasonal standouts from past years.

What to Eat With Your Pumpkin Spice Latte

Every good latte deserves a pastry. On the North Shore, Bjornbar Bakery in North Vancouver goes all in on pumpkin each autumn, with past treats including pumpkin fritters, pumpkin spice croissants, and pumpkin Nanaimo bars. In Gastown, Purebread is known for its pumpkin scones and whoopie pies, and it has several locations around the city. For pie lovers outside the city centre, The Pie Hole has locations in Burnaby, Vancouver, and Langley.

Tips for the Perfect Pumpkin Latte Crawl

Ask what’s in the syrup. The best cafes make their own, often with real pumpkin purée. If the barista lights up talking about it, order it.

Go half-sweet. Most independent cafes will happily reduce the syrup, which lets the espresso and spices shine.

Choose oat milk. Its natural sweetness pairs beautifully with pumpkin spice, and it’s available almost everywhere in Vancouver.

Check before you go. Independent cafes often release fall drinks in small batches from late September onward, and popular ones can sell out.

Make it a fall walk. Take your cup to Queen Elizabeth Park, Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, or the tree-lined blocks of Mount Pleasant. Leaf colour usually peaks from mid to late October.

    Frequently Asked Questions

When do pumpkin spice lattes come out in Vancouver?

Chains launch first, usually in late August. Starbucks released its 2026 fall menu on August 25. Most independent cafes follow between mid-September and early October.

How long is the Tim Hortons pumpkin spice menu available?

The Tim Hortons pumpkin spice lineup is available until November 1, 2026.

Where can I get a less sweet pumpkin spice latte in Vancouver?

Cafes that make their own syrup, including Kranky Cafe, Le Marché St. George, and The Garden Strathcona, are your best bet. Ask for half syrup for an even lighter drink.

Can I get a vegan pumpkin spice latte in Vancouver?

Yes. Most cafes can make one with oat, almond, or soy milk. Ask them to skip the whipped cream and check that the syrup itself is dairy-free.

What’s in a pumpkin spice latte?

A classic PSL combines espresso and steamed milk with pumpkin and warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. House-made versions often add cardamom, ginger, allspice, or vanilla.
