PoCo is a family town with a compact downtown, a 25-kilometre trail looping around it and a coffee scene that’s more neighbourhood than destination. That’s its charm. You come here for friendly regular-spots, not for queues and Instagram crowds.
Downtown Port Coquitlam
Shaughnessy Street and the blocks around City Hall and Leigh Square make up PoCo’s walkable core.
- Cafe Delitzi: One of the most-mentioned cafes in PoCo, with a warm room and a food menu to match the coffee.
- Sincerely Café: A small, friendly downtown option.
- Daniel Le Chocolat Belge: Belgian chocolates, plus a hot chocolate that beats most coffee on a rainy afternoon.
- Matteo’s Gelato: Gelato and espresso. Order the affogato.
Around the neighbourhoods
- Beanery Coffeehouse & Eatery: A local coffeehouse with a solid food menu that regulars return to for breakfast and lunch.
- C Market Coffee: A cafe-plus-market concept that works for grabbing coffee and groceries in one stop.
Coffee on the PoCo Trail
The Traboulay PoCo Trail circles the city along the Coquitlam and Pitt rivers. Grab a coffee downtown and walk the riverside section north toward Lions Park. In fall, watch for salmon in the Coquitlam River.
Chains in Port Coquitlam
Starbucks has several PoCo locations, including on Shaughnessy Street and near Shaughnessy Station, and Waves has a handful too, which makes PoCo surprisingly well covered for laptop work. Tim Hortons drive-thrus sit along the Lougheed and Mary Hill Bypass for commuters.
