Coquitlam’s coffee scene grew up fast alongside the Evergreen Line. The North Road strip in Burquitlam is one of the best places in Metro Vancouver for Korean-style cafes and desserts, City Centre now has a genuine specialty destination, and the older neighbourhoods keep their roasters and family-run spots. Here’s how a local would plan a Coquitlam coffee day.
City Centre and TriCity Pavilion
- Nemesis, TriCity Pavilion (2968 Christmas Way): The Vancouver specialty brand brought its hospitality-driven coffee to the Tri-Cities for the first time when the Pavilion opened in summer 2025. Go for a pour-over and a pastry, then walk to Lafarge Lake.
- Caffè Divano (Burlington Drive at Pinetree Way): A long-running local mini-chain with locations in Coquitlam, Port Moody and Burnaby. Comfortable, reliable, good for meeting people.
- The Coffee Bun (Pinetree Way): Famous for its warm buns with crackly coffee-flavoured crusts. Order one with an Americano.
- Him & I Café (The High Street): A cozy option if you’re near the Coquitlam Centre end of town.
Burquitlam and North Road
The stretch of North Road between Lougheed Highway and Austin Avenue, straddling the Burnaby border, is often called Koreatown. Expect cafes with striking interiors, elaborate desserts and sweet lattes.
- Coffee Monster (405 North Road): Family-owned and colourful, known for desserts served in mason jars alongside coffee and tea.
- Korean bakery-cafes: Several along North Road and in the Lougheed area. Try a dalgona-style whipped coffee or a sweet potato latte if it’s on the menu.
- Standing Egg Coffee is just across the line in Burnaby (North Road) if you want to keep going.
Westwood and the Barnet Highway
- Creekside Coffee Factory: A Coquitlam original with in-house roasting, so the room smells like fresh coffee as soon as you walk in. Two locations, including Westwood near the Lougheed Highway.
Austin Heights and Maillardville
Coquitlam’s older neighbourhoods have quieter, community-feel cafes along Austin Avenue. Maillardville, the historic francophone neighbourhood, is worth a wander for its heritage and the annual Festival du Bois.
Burke Mountain
New neighbourhoods up the hill mean new cafes. Good for a coffee before hiking or a walk at Minnekhada Regional Park.
Chains in Coquitlam
Starbucks, Waves, Blenz and Tim Hortons are concentrated around Coquitlam Centre, Pinetree Way and the Lougheed Highway. Waves is a popular study spot for Douglas College students at the David Lam campus.
