Location and getting there

Sadacci sits on the first block of East Cordova, just east of Carrall Street, a minute from Maple Tree Square. It’s on the same compact loop as Nelson the Seagull, East Van Roasters, Milano and The Birds & The Beets, so it’s easy to add to a short east-Gastown crawl. From Waterfront Station, walk Water Street to Carrall and turn up toward Cordova.

What Sadacci offers

  • Persian-inspired drinks: Espresso drinks with flavour ideas drawn from Persian kitchens. The lineup changes, so ask what’s on the board that day.
  • Espresso sodas: Espresso over sparkling water and ice, sometimes with a flavoured syrup. Bright, fizzy and refreshing on a hot day.
  • Classic coffee: Americanos, cappuccinos and lattes for a straightforward order.
  • Baking: Muffins and cookies baked fresh in small batches, with seasonal flavours.

The vibe

Personal and low-key. It’s a small room where the people behind the counter are often the owners, and the pace is friendly rather than rushed. There’s free Wi-Fi, but limited seating, so it’s best for a short sit or takeaway. Prices are kinder than at many Gastown cafes.

What to order

  • Summer: An espresso soda.
  • Something new: Whichever Persian-inspired latte is on the board, ask the staff to recommend one.
  • With it: A fresh muffin or cookie.

Who it’s best for

Curious coffee drinkers who are tired of the same latte, budget-conscious students and workers, and anyone who likes supporting a small family business. It isn’t designed for long stays or groups.

How it compares with nearby cafes

Sadacci is the most affordable and most unexpected stop on the east Gastown loop. Milano is for classic espresso, East Van Roasters for chocolate, and Nelson the Seagull for a full breakfast. Sadacci brings flavours you won’t find at any of them.

Tips

  • Hours are daytime and weekends start later. Check Instagram before you go.
  • Vegan and gluten-free baked options have been available on request.
